Meet Min Xu

A little story about me and how I started Min Xu Boudoir Photography in Cairns. Being brought up in the conservative Chinese society, we, especially females, are always judged what we wear and how we look.

My mom never thought I was good looking, and she wanted me to wear push-up bras because I have small boobs and she wanted me to wear makeup and dress up well because “you will be more attractive”… She would even buy me dresses which she thought were nice… Unfortunately, the expectations of society on us women and the wrong people around us make us upset. I’m glad I didn’t stay home and chose my own path and the people I want to be around.

That judgement and negative comments on us makes lots of women ashamed of their bodies. And of course, I was one of them. Everyone feels self-conscious about their body from time to time. I was always very confident behind the camera, but never in front of. One day I decided to challenge myself to be on the other side of the camera and get a boudoir shoot done. That was LIFE CHANGING. Since then I started modelling and decided to shoot boudoir exclusively to empower more women!

I’m sure you’ve heard me saying “All bodies are beautiful” a million times, and I’m also sure that half the time you were super inspired and the other half of the time you chickened out.

However, when you realize, and really take to heart, that so many of the things you worry about are unnecessary, then you’ll feel so much better about yourself.

I’ve met so many women who are already beautiful but they feel they have to live up to the wild beauty standards that society has set.

However, I think beauty is how you choose to present yourself. What I’m doing is capturing your confidence and your personality through tasteful and intimate photos. I take pride in bringing out the inner goddess of every woman and helping them forget about the judgement and negative comments and eventually fall in love with themselves.

I have extensive experience in photography and understand how being photographed works as I myself am a model for other photographers.

What has boudoir photography done for me?

Boudoir photography for me is not just a career. Having grown up in a traditional and judgemental society, boudoir photography is the thing that liberated me.

Through boudoir photography, I was able to feel good about myself. Once I discovered boudoir photography, I never questioned myself again. I found confidence and strength in something that turned out to be my passion.

Boudoir photography is not just a passion, but a life-changing experience. It has enabled me to travel all around Australia and all across the world, work with new and exciting people and it has helped me empower women not through words but through images. Boudoir photography is what I do for a living and that means giving other people the chance to benefit from it the way that I did.

As your boudoir photographer, I will not fill you up with flower words like “I am the best boudoir photographer in Australia”, “I will give you the best boudoir photos”, or “I am the #1 boudoir photographer in Australia”. Even if I am these things, I would rather tell you that I will give you the best experience possible out of your boudoir photoshoot.

I will make sure that I understand why you want to book a boudoir photoshoot and what you want to get out of it.

Before even booking your boudoir photoshoot with me, I will make sure that I get to connect with you on a deeper level. What other people do not understand is that boudoir photography is a very personal thing. It requires you to open up and allow a boudoir photographer to see your vulnerable and authentic self. That way we know where to begin and what we want to achieve together!

COMFORT AND SAFETY
During your boudoir photoshoot, I will make sure that you are 100% comfortable. Not only with the set-up but also with every single thing involved like outfit, style, posing and environment.

Any boudoir photoshoot with me is confidential, private and is for sure a safe space. In fact, you decide who sees your photos.

Almost every client that I have ever had in my boudoir studio would tell me that they were nervous about how their boudoir photoshoot would go, how they would look and how they would do this.
